Nobuyoshi Asai feels profound beauty in scars, stains, or wrinkles left on aged human bodies through their daily lives. While our bodies have been losing its natural physical abilities in a modern society addicted to extreme convenience, Asai conserves its movements and beauty in his Butoh dance. Butoh has no style. And there is no correct way to perform Butoh either. Enjoy its infinite inspiration from the human body beyond any expression or understanding. REI from “Le Coup de Folie (Insanity Attack).”
